basic 600/smite worked for me. just have to use SoA before warrior hit you then save mantra resolve just when SoA runs out click mantra then cast SoA. Mantra will get hit otherwise with Wild Blow. Spellbreaker necros and big ele groups since weakness ebon hawk and stoning knocks you down alot. Run gwx2 if u got it or get a friend 50/50.

[build prof=Mo/Me ins=3 pro=12 div=12][Shield of Absorption][Spirit Bond][Protective Spirit][Spell Breaker]["Finish Him!"][Mantra of Concentration][Essence Bond][Blessed Aura][/build]

[build prof=Mo/N blo=2 smi=12 pro=12 div=2][Retribution][Holy Wrath][Vital Blessing][Balthazar's Spirit][Purge Signet][Blessed Signet][Blood Ritual][Unyielding Aura][/build]

I'm wondering why people bother to farm it with 600/smite when there's loot scaling. I loaded up h/h on my ele, hit HM, walked out, and averaged 3 roots per run. oO

I was doing the run this morning with 3 friends + 2 heros and we each got 3-4 per run. That was covering the entire spawning grounds in Arkjok (basically the bottom 1/3 of the map between Yohlon & the river.

I have about 6 to 8 roots per run too, but I use a 4 heroes team with 2 accounts so a total of 6 characters. 1 character doesn't attack and just press space to tag along the first character. This way, I would cover about 1/3 of the drop for the team.

I think 6 characters is close to optimal. You can run solo or 600/smite but you kill slower than my discordway team ending up about the same number of roots per run, because of loot scaling.

So, I got 4 gifts and got:
5 mysterious summoning stones
10 champagne poppers
5 green rock candy
10 jars of honey

I wanted to get more, but after 3 runs and no roots, I'm kinda done. I also got Eshau's Spear and some rare dye.

I played around with a few different characters. The easiest was my curses necromancer (Rip Enchantment is great against Stoneflesh Aura). The first time I went out, went with Livia as minion master, Tahlkora as monkey monk, and randomly chose Hayda with a bow build I got from an alliance mate. It worked fine. I totally failed as a paragon, struggled as a smiting monk and did fine with a domination mesmer. Then went back to necromancer and swapped out Hayda for Gwen, and forgot that Gwen was still set for "Avoid Combat". But still didn't have too many problems (once Gwen was set to Guard, things went a lot more quickly).

Overall just enjoyed messing around with different builds. Loot scaling means that I probably wasn't as efficient as I could have been, but I was generally getting 3-5 roots per run. Still don't have quite enough roots for my second account, though.

For my first account, the rewards from the gifts were not impressive: One keg, 5 blue rock candies, 10 honeycombs, 5 mysterious summoning stones, 10 jars of honey. And the sad part is that I won't use any of that.

For example, a solo farmer will on average get the same number of blue weapons as a player in an eight person party. ~ Wiki

Solo farming does not help at all, sorry, since this counts for any non-rare drop, collectables too.

Seems hard to believe, after running it in HM with 8 H/H, 3 times, and getting 4/run - and given everyone else stating 3-4 per run (except the 2 account guy spacing his alt who got 3-4 * 2), and given loot scaling on white drops.

Gunna try this next tho...

I got a steady 2-3 per run. Sold them for good money. It's amazing how people will sit and spam 'WTB roots 2k/per' when there are at least half a dozen people going 'WTS roots 1.5k/per'. <3

I'm guessing he'll not just collect plain trophies. I reckon they need to have a secondary function, but also to be meaningful to him and/or Yakkington in a certain way. I'm going to be keeping my eye open for anything he may want in future...anything that can be exchanged for something unusual, or just something unusual which can be picked up.

Vabbian Wine, Volcanic Rocks, Drake Kabobs, Victory Tokens etc...

So, after all this time..I still don't get how the drops work. As I mentioned earlier, in a 5 person pt, having done 6 runs I ended up with only 3 roots.

I kicked one, so I was down to a pt of 4, and I got on average 6-9 per run. Dunno, don't care. Got enough for my wife and myself..Hope I never seen another Mandragor again!

From experience, collectibles tend to drop less in HM so I'd say yes. I could be wrong though. :P I managed to get 6 from 1 NM run with a full H/H party.
